三废治理研究所主要从事核设施退役与放射性废物管理领域的技术研究、技术服务和产品开发，覆盖核设施退役、放射性去污、可燃废物焚烧、特殊废物处理、废源整备、水泥固化与固化体表征、废物清洁解控、废物处置安全评价等技术方向，长期承担国防科工局、总装备部、生态环境部下发的科研项目，获得40余项科研成果，累计获得省部级以上奖项24项,多项成果实现工程应用。编制了多项退役治理领域国际、国内标准导则，是我国生态环境部核与辐射安全监管技术支持单位。

　　三废治理研究所长期开展国际合作与交流，是国际原子能机构IAEA环境管理与恢复ENVIROMENT成员单位、IAEA放射性废物表征实验室协作组（LABONET）成员单位，IAEA废放射源整备协作实验室（SourceNet）成员单位。设立有“中核集团核设施退役与放射性废物处理工程技术研究中心（联合）”、“中核高放废物深地层处置技术重点实验室（联合）”、“核设施退役与放射性废物治理中法协作实验室”等科研平台，拥有一流的科研与试验条件，是我国退役治理领域重要科研与技术力量。

　　The Department of Radioactive Waste Management mainly works on technical research, technical service and product development in the fields of decommissioning of nuclear facilities and radioactive waste management. The technologies concretely include the decommissioning of nuclear facilities,the decontamination of radioactivity,the incineration of combustible waste,the disposal of special waste,the conditioning of spent source,the solidification of cement, and the safety assessment of waste disposal , et al. The department has been undertaking scientific research projects issued by The State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, The General Armament Department and The Ministry of Ecology and Environment. More than 40 scientific research achievements and 24 provincial and ministerial awards have been obtained, and many achievements have been applied in practical project.As the technical support unit of nuclear and radiation safety supervision of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, the department has compiled a number of international and domestic standard guidelines in the field of decommissioning management.

　　The Department of Radioactive Waste Management has long been engaged in international cooperation and exchange activities.The department is the member of three organizations, which are respectively The IAEA Environmental Management and Recovery (ENVIROMENT), The IAEA Radioactive Waste Characterization Laboratory Collaboration Group (LABONET) and The IAEA Spent Radioactive Source Preparation Collaboration Laboratory (SourceNet).The Department has set up multiple scientific research platforms, such as The ‘Nuclear Facilities Decommissioning of CNNC and Radioactive Waste Disposal Engineering Technology Joint Research Center’, The ‘High-Level Radioactive Waste in Deep Strata Disposal Technology Key joint Laboratory’, and The ‘Nuclear Facilities Decommissioning and Radioactive Waste Management Joint Laboratories’.In a word, the department with a first-class scientific research conditions is an important scientific research and technical force in the field of decommissioning management in China.
